CHENNAI, Aug 18: AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalitha today expelled party’s organising secretary and leader of its legislative group R Tamaraikani from the party for indulging in anti-party activities.

Tamaraikani, defying the AIADMK supremo, filed his nomination today against the party’s official nominee V Ramaswami (former Supreme Court Judge) in the Sivakasi Lok Sabha Constituency.

In a statement today, Jayalalitha said he had behaved in a manner that brought dishonour to the party. He was removed from the posts of party organising secretary, party leader in the Assembly and primary membership. She also urged the cadres not to associate themselves in anyway with Tamaraikani.

The mercurial AIADMK MLA made a sudden announcement two days ago that he would file his nominations as an Independent. He already represents Srivilliputhur Assembly Constituency which forms parts of the Sivakasi LS constituency.

Jayalalitha had reportedly pulled him up for the poor turn out at Srivilliputhur when she touredthe constituency two days ago. Apparently hurt by the dressing down, Tamaraikani has revolted.
