Bangalore, Jan 8: Indian golfers rose to the occasion in splendid fashion to stamp their authority on the opening day of the first Saarc Golf Championship at the Karnataka Golf Association course on Friday.

All the three Indians, Amish Jaitha, Digvijay Singh and Harmeet Kahlon figured among the top five finishers on the first day and left the rest of the field behind.

Amish Jaitha returned a card of two-under, the same as Sri Lankan RAA Rohana. But while the next best card by an Indian, Digvijay Singh was two over 74, Sri Lanka8217;s next best golfer finished four over 76.

Scores: India 144 Amish Jaitha 70, Digvijay Singh 74, Harmeet Kahlon 75; Sri Lanka 146 RAA Rohana 70, Lalith Kumara 76, Tissa Chandradasa 79; Pakistan 155 Ahmed Zaffar Hayat 75, Ghazanfar Ashraf 80, Shahid Javed Khan 81; Bhutan 162 Tasi Tshering 80, Karma Rangdol 82, Tobgyal Dorji 85; Nepal 168 KC Dhruba 84, Gopal Nagarkoti 84, Deep B Basnet 85; Bangladesh 169 Md Raiyan Rab 84, Tareq Taher 85; Saber Afzal 94.
