
CHANDIGARH, June 7: Jagdev Mann of St Stephen8217;s School, Sector 45 and Saroj Chandel of the Reserve Bank of India clinched the men8217;s and women8217;s singles titles in the first Prize Money Ranking Carrom tournament which concluded at St Stephen8217;s School premises here today. Jagdev outplayed Tejinder Harry 25-7, 25-0 to become richer by Rs 2000 while Saroj got the better of Anjali Negi 16-25, 25-4, 25-12 to take home the women8217;s crown. She won Rs 500.
Earlier, in the semifinals, Jagdev Mann beat KS Patwal 0-25, 25-4, 25-9 and Tejinder Harry defeated Devinderjit Singh in a close contest 25-22, 25-12.
In the women8217;s section, in the first semis, Saroj Chandel down by a game 10-25 bounced back and went on to win the next two games 25-8, 25-8. In the second semifinal, Anjali Negi after initial hiccups beat Ami Wig 25-22, 25-0.
