SYDNEY, FEB 17: A top International Olympic Committee official accused Sydney organisers of undermining their own corporate sponsors and misleading the public by describing the marketing programmes for the 2000 Games as a failure. “Is there anything about the word `success’ you don’t understand?” IOC vice president Dick Pound said in an unusually blunt public criticism of an Olympic Organising Committee.

Pound blasted Sydney organisers for their “dysfunctional relationship” with local sponsors and described the committee’s frequently raised revenue targets as “nuts”.
