Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul Haq is hoping his players would make amends for the mistakes they committed in the one-dayers and come good in the Test series.

‘‘We should have won the one-day series with a good margin, but we didn’t grab our opportunities,’’ Inzamam said after a practice session here. He said that he was looking forward to play on sporting wickets in the three-match Test series opening here on Sunday. ‘‘It’s good for international cricket that result-oriented wickets should be prepared for Test matches and I hope this wicket will produce a result,’’ he said.

‘‘There should be something for the bowlers. Bowlers must get help from the wickets instead of batsmen dominating for the full five days,’’ he said.

The much-hyped Pakistan seam attack, led by speedster Shoaib Akhtar, failed to come good in the one-dayers conceding 108 wides and no-balls in five high-scoring one-dayers.

Inzamam said the bowlers needed to address the problem themselves.

‘‘We can only rectify the bowlers’ shortcomings in the nets and we give special attention to no-balls and wides during training. But when they play in the middle, they have to do it themselves,’’ said the skipper, who marked his return to form with two centuries in the one-day series.
