NEW DELHI, January 16: The Department of Telecom today cleared national and international `automatic’ roaming, which would allow subscribers to roam seamlessly across telecom circles and even national borders.

However, voice path switching will only be allowed through the DoT and Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL) network, an official release said here today. Earlier, automatic roaming was permitted only between the four metros.

The charges for the use of DoT/VSNL resources for transmission of signalling data over network will be separately intimated.
