NEW DELHI, NOV 20: Micro-processor giant Intel Corporation today launched its most-advanced Pentium IV processor at 1.4 and 1.5 Giga Hertz GHz speed for faster desktop computing on a new platforms-based on acirc;euro;tilde;NetBurstacirc;euro;trade; micro-architecture.

acirc;euro;oelig;A complete improvement over the present Pentium III, Pentium IV with the NetBurst technology is equipped with a 400 Mhz data processing capacity, which will also offer rapid execution engine to enhance the frequency of the processor, acirc;euro; Director, South Asia, Intel, Avtar Saini said at the launch here. He said the processors would be priced at 819 1.5 GHz and 644 1.4 GHz for 1,000 units.

He said Pentium IV had been designed owing to the emergence of new vistas of internet like video streaming, multimedia, 3-D Interactives and encryption to power Intelacirc;euro;trade;s 32-bit processor for both enterprises and consumers.

The new processor would also encode video and MP3 files which would be 25 per cent faster than the Pentium III, he added. Pentium IV processor platform is based on Intel 850 chipset which the company also introduced today.

The Intel 850 chpisetacirc;euro;trade;s dual RDRAM memory banks support Pentium IVacirc;euro;trade;s 400 MHz processing capacity providing up to 3.2 giga bytes of data per second, Saini said.

acirc;euro;oelig;Hyper Pipelined technology in Pentium IV will enable education of software instructions in a 20-stage pipeline as compared to the 10-stage pipeline of Pentium III processor, acirc;euro; Saini said.

The new processor also comes with a new feature of Execution Trace Cache which will utilise the chip memory for improved performance, he said adding the streaming SIMD extensions for a wide range of broadband applications, he said.
