
NEW DELHI, JULY 16: The National junior selectors on Sunday decided to retain the team 14 members which won the inaugural Asian Cricket Council ACC Under-15 Championships in Kuala Lumpur earlier this month for the forthcoming Crosscutter under-15 World Challenge Cup to be played in England from July 30 to August 10. This was disclosed here this afternoon by BCCI joint secretary and convenor of the junior selection committee, Jyoti Bajpai after the selectors unanimously decided to make no changes8217; in the squad.
8220;Naveen Chaudhary of Uttar Pradesh who has a knee problem will be examined by the Board doctor tomorrow. If he is declared unfit, Tamil Nadu8217;s all-rounder Vasudev Das will replace him,8221; Bajpai informed.
Bajpai said as the players 8212; all of whom will be making their first trip to England 8212; were required to present themselves at their respective High Commissions New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai or Calcutta as the case may be, there will be no time for a long camp, as planned earlier. 8220;Since all the boys have played together in the recent Kuala Lumpur tournament, there is not really a need to have a camp. If at all, we may have a two-day camp either in Delhi or Mumbai prior to the team8217;s departure for London on July 26,8221; he said.
The meeting, which lasted just an hour, was attended by Rajinder Goel North Zone, chairman, Mahendra M Rajdev West, Shashikant Khandkar UP, Subhash Kangralkar South and Ashish Sinha East, besides Mr Bajpai and coach Roger Binny.
In the World Challenge, India are clubbed alongwith hosts England, Holland and the West Indies in Group A while Group B comprises Pakistan, Sri Lanka, South Africa and Zimbabwe. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals to be held on August 5 and 8. The final is slated for August 10 at Lord8217;s.
