Arjun Atwal finishes 20th
MANILA:
Arjun Atwal played his best round of the tournament to end in the 20th position in the $ 200,000 Casino Filipino Golf Open here while Jyoti Randhawa shot a three under-par 69 to be placed 28th.
The title was claimed by Thailand’s Prayad Marksaeng, who won his first tournament for two years on the Davidoff Tour.

Rizwan fifa referee
NEW DELHI:
Delhi’s Rizwan-ul-Haq, a National football referee since 1996, has been selected as Fifa referee in the seminar held recently under the aegis of the Asian Football Confederation.
The former Delhi senior team captain emulated his father, the late Ikram-ul-Haq, by bagging the Fifa recognition. Two Indian officials earned the Fifa badge for this year.

Wild Run Rally
CALCUTTA:
ALL the top-seeded drivers in the National rally circuit, including defending champion VR Naren Kumar, will take part in the 6th Wild Run Rally for cars to be held in Calcutta from April 5-9.
Arjun Balu, Hari Singh andLeelakrishnan were some of the other top rallyists to take part in the event, the first in the series of eight Castrol National Rally Championship for cars.

International Meet
HISSAR:
More than 200 athletes from seven countries are expected to participate in an athletic meet beginning on March 3.
Athletes from Poland, Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Kenya and Sri Lanka, besides hosts India, were likely to take part in the meet, president of Haryana State Amateur Athletic Association Abhey Singh Chautala said on Sunday.

Cricket academy
CALCUTTA:
Former Test cricketer Arun Lal started a cricket academy in East Calcutta, on Sunday.
The Arun Lal Cricket Academy, which would operate under the aegis of East Calcutta District Sports Federation, would be assisted by renowned cricketers of Bengal like Gautam Shome, Pranab Nandy, Gopal Bose, Saba Karim, Moloy Banerjee, TJ Banerjee, Srimanta Hazra, Amit Hore and Arun Lal himself among others.

Pathare cup
MUMBAI:
The richest prizemoney (Rs 1.57 lakh including cash and gifts) body building championship, the Millenium Pathare Cup 2000, would be held at the Maharshi Dayanand College grounds on February 25-26.
The general secretary of the Indian Body Building Federation (IBBF), Madhav Pujari, said the championship would decide the winners in six different weight groups (below 60, 60-65, 65-70, 70-75, 75-80 and above 80).
The list of builders includes current National champion in the 65-70 kgs weight group EG Byju of Services, silver medallist in the Commonwealth Championship and nine times National champion Prasad Kumar of Services.

Aussies win
NEW DELHI:
Australian Universities ended their campaign with the solitary 2-1 win over Indian Universities in the last league match of the Ayur Gold Cup hockey tournament. The visitors lost three of the five matches they played and drew one.
Prabhdeep Singh (17th minute) scored for the Indians while Michanel McCann (48th) equalised. Five minutes later, captain Mathew Lebseyconverted a penalty corner for the winner.

Parthiva tops
Chennai:
Parthiva Sureshwaren, still in his late teens, seems to have come of age, as he won both the rounds in the single-seater (FISSME) and first of the two in the stock Esteem category where he showed plenty of pluck in the JK Tyre-Asian Age Millennium Grand Prix motor races on Sunday.The FISSME competition had Uday Eswaran of Coorg, Karnataka, coming within an ace of putting it across favourite Parthiva.
