The axis of the monsoon trough at sea level passes through Bikaner, Sawai Madhopur, Jhansi, Daltonganj, Balasore and thence southeastwards to east central Bay of Bengal. Another branch of it has become less marked. The off-shore trough at sea level from Maharashtra coast to Kerala coast persists.
The cyclonic circulation over southeast Rajasthan and adjoining Gujarat region persists and now extends upto 2.1 kms a.s.l. A cyclonic circulation between 1.5 and 5.8 kms a.s.l. lies over Gangetic West Bengal neighbourhood. The western disturbance as an upper air system over Jammu and Kashmir and neighbourhood persists. System is likely to move eastnortheastwards.
Total rainfall during the past 24 hours at 181 available stations in the plains, out of 291 stations, is 268 cms. Normal for the above 181 stations is 166 cms.
The southwest Monsoon has been vigorous in Punjab and Gujarat region and active in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Saurashtra and Kutch, Konkan and Goa coastal and south interior Karnataka and Kerala. It has been subdued in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
