According to the Organiser, western universities are denigrating India by promoting studies that depict Hindu gods, goddesses and other cultural symbols with 8220;distasteful sexual connotation and nauseating voyeurism8221;. The lead article written by editor R. Balashankar says that what American scholars have said is 8220;below the dignity of any self-respecting Hindu to read.8221; The article is based on a book, Invading the Sacred: An Analysis of Hinduism Studies in America, which 8220;exposes how and why the image of India as a culture of series of abuses like sati, dowry, caste conflicts and worship of grotesque deities has persisted.8221; Balashankar says 8220;this is not the result of mere personal prejudices but is the result of a sustained, well-entrenched institutional mechanism.8221;
Jihad truths
Columnist Shyam Khosla is happy that 8220;perceptive commentators, including liberal Muslims, have at long last started questioning the conventional wisdom that certain 8216;misguided8217; youth are indulging in Islamic terror and that western foreign policy and economic and educational backwardness are propelling Muslims on the path of fundamentalism and terror.8221; Khosla believes Islamic beliefs should come under scrutiny. 8220;Anger or despair cannot be the motivation for terror for a Muslim from an upper middle class family in a democratic society against a country that is host to his ambitions. A serious and sincere effort will have to be made to demystify Islam and take it out of the hate-mongers.8221;
No sex education
RSS has already declared its opposition to sex education, and the Organiser has an article by Professor D. Visweswaram on the subject: 8220;The danger of unregulated sex is going out of control for the governments in the West. Perverted sex practitioners, unable to overcome their vices, are fighting for a honourable place in their societies8230;These instances from the West are ringing bells, warning our intellectuals not to make perverted excursions in the educational field.8221;
Church and CPM
The CPM and the Church have been the best of friends, and the Organiser takes note of the recent anti-Marxist statements from bishops in Kerala. Recalling that the first Marxist government in Kerala was dismissed after a movement spearheaded by the Church, and supported by the Muslim League and Hindu organisations, it says the CPM-led government could be facing the same situation.
8220;In the run-up to the 2004 Lok Sabha and 2006 assembly polls, concerted efforts were made by the CPM to woo Christians8230; apart from placating Muslim extremist groups like Madhani, JEI, NDF, SIMI and so on8230; several churches issued 8216;pastoral letters8217; calling for voting for CPM/LDF. But the CPM-Christian honeymoon is collapsing,8221; it says.
