Juniors in second spot

CALCUTTA: India were in second spot, five strokes behind Korea, after the opening round of the Korea International Junior Golf Championship at Seoul.The Indian team, comprising Shiv Kapur, Ashok Kumar, Sandip Syal and Arjun Singh, had a cumulative best three scores of 215.

Mukesh Kumar for Malaysia

NEW DELHI: Mukesh Kumar, who was named in the 18 selected for the hockey camp for the twin tournaments in Australia next month, is almost certain to turn down the offer as he signed up with a Malaysian Club.

Mukesh, along with defender Suresh Kumar signed up with Yayasan Negri Sembilan YNS for their campaign in the Malaysian Hockey League MHL. The MHL begins on September 4 and the two are expected join the team8217;s centralised training on Saturday.

No play possible

CHENNAI: There was no play in the Buchi Babu cricket semifinal between Hyderabad XI and OGNC on the penultimate day as the early morning rains rendered the M A Chidambaram Stadium unfit for playon Wednesday.The match at Southern Railway ground was also called off without a ball being bowled.

BCCI AGM shifted

MUMBAI: The 70th annual general meeting of the Board of Control for Cricket in India BCCI has been shifted from Mumbai to Jaipur and would be held on September 21 and 22.

Cricket Festival

NEW DELHI: India, West Indies and Pakistan will participate in the Toronto Cricket Festival to be organised by the International Management Group from September 11-19. The six One-day international matches are so scheduled that India will not meet Pakistan.
