MUMBAI: The national cricket selection committee will meet at Baroda on August 6 to select the team for the August 22-31 triangular series in Sri Lanka, also featuring World Cup champions Australia. The newly appointed captain Sachin Tendulkar and coach Anshuman Gaekwad would also participate in the discussion to choose the other team members.

Kambli clarifies

MUMBAI: Vinod Kambli will not be playing in the three-match one-day unofficial series between Asian XI and Rest of the World scheduled to be played in the US on August three, six and eight.

Kambli said: 8220;I declined the invitation to play in US as I have hopes of playing for the country and don8217;t want to jeopardise my chances by playing in masala matches.8221;

Honour for Venkat
