U-19 soccer team for Mauritius

CALCUTTA: An under-19 Indian soccer team will visit Mauritius on a goodwill tour from August 11-26.

Prasun Banerjee has been appointed the technical director and Goutam Sarkar the coach of the squad. The 20-member team will be selected after two coaching camps, the first of which which will be at the Sports Authority of India complex here.

Calcutta: The Cricket Association of Bengal today donated Rs 10 lakhs to the Central Army Welfare Fund for the soldiers who laid down their lives while fighting Pakistani intruders in Kargil.

CAB president Jagmohan Dalmiya handed over the cheque to Major General OS Lohchab, GOC Bengal area, who was the chief guest at the association8217;s annual prize distribution function.
