NEW DELHI: Disciples of the late wrestling coach Guru Hanuman today handed over a cheque of Rs 22,100 to the Prime Minister as their contribution to the Army Central Welfare Fund.

Writ dismissed

BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court has dismissed as “virtually infructuous”, a writ petition filed by National junior runner-up Divya Ramesh against the Badminton Association of India (BAI).

In a press release, BAI general secretary S S Mani said the court had observed that the player, having permitted herself to be subjected to medical examination and having participated in the tournament, was not entitled to challenge either the result of the medical examination or the result of the tournament.

JALANDHAR: The newly-formed Punjab Women’s Football Academy, claimed to be the first of its kind in the country, would start functioning from next week.

Punjab Women’s Football Association secretary Surinder Bhambri said 20 players have been selected bythe association in two phases of trials held on July 2 and Monday.
