KOTTAYAM: Mumbai side Mahindras lifted the trophy in the all-India Mammen Mappillai football championship, by dethroning defending champions State Bank of Travancore, Thiruvananthapuram, 2-1 in the final.

Rushmi out, Archana in final

LUCKNOW: Top seed Rushmi Chakravorty crashed out of the BoB Women8217;s Masters tennis by conceding her semi-final match to fourth seed S Jayalakshmi due to illness midway in the second set after losing the first set 3-6.

In the other semi-final, Archana Venkatraman had to use all her power and tenacity to overcome Janaki Krishanamurthy 7-67-4, 7-6 7-2.

Sane, Lakhani for Europe

NEW DELHI: Devinder Singh Bhusari Ahmedabad, Vikrant Sane and Isha Lakhani both Mumbai have been invited by the International Tennis Federation to participate in the Europe Circuit from July 1-August 8.

The project is being financed by the Grand Slam Development Fund, an All India TennisAssociation release said here today.

The Indian trio which will be part of the Asian team, will be coached by Paul Dale Thailand and Khaled A Ashkanan Kuwait, the release added.
