Team to be named on Feb 24

MUMBAI: The Indian squad for the first Test against Australia, to be played at Chennai from March 6-10, will be selected in Mumbai on February 24– the opening day of the the visitors’ tour opener against Ranji Trophy champions Mumbai at the Brabourne Stadium here.

The Board President’s team to take on the Aussies at Vishakapatnam from March 1-3 is also to be selected on the same day, according to the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), JY Lele.

Simpson expected

MUMBAI: Former Australian captain Bob Simpson is scheduled to reach Mumbai before February 15 to commence his work as a consultant to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The BCCI’s working committee had decided to seek Simpson’s help as a consultant in improving the Indian team’s performance.
