PSCB emerge sole leader

MOGA: PSCB ended the dream run of leaders LIC with an easy 3.5-0.5 win to snatch the lead on in the National Team Chess Championships here on Saturday. After six rounds, PSCB lead 17 points, with Tamil Nadu 16.5, who beat Integral Coach Factory ICF 3-1, following close behind.LIC 15.5 points was placed third and Indian Airlines, who held defending champion Bank Sports Board 14.5, were next with 15 points.

PSCB 17 bt LIC 15.5; ICF 14.5 lost to Tamil Nadu 16.5; Indian Airlines 15 drew with BSB 14.5; Madhya Pradesh 12.5 lost to Railways 14.5; Uttar Pradesh 14 bt Delhi 11.5.

Final round pairing: PSCB vs BSB, TN vs Indian Airlines; LIC vs Indian Railways; Uttar Pradesh vs ICF; Delhi vs RBI and Nagpur Academy vs Andhra Pradesh.

Chess squad

CHENNAI: A 10-member team, with two Grandmasters, two International masters and two IWM will represent India in the Chess Olympiad in Elista Kalmykia from Sept 26 toOct 13.
