
Venkat lone Indian in panel
CALCUTTA: India8217;s S Venkatraghavan is the lone Indian in the International Cricket Council8217;s panel of umpires for the forthcoming nine-nation Wills International Cup to be held in Dhaka from Ocotber 24 to November 2.
The other umpires are: David Shephard, Peter Willey both England, Steve Bucknor WI, Steve Dunne New Zealand and David Orchard South Africa.
Ranjan Madugalle Sri Lanka and Raman Subba Row England are the two match referees. Two new members in the ICC8217;s match referres panel Gundappa Vishwanath India and Ibrahim Isaac South Africa would also go to Dhaka as part of their training process.

Award for Ganguly
CHENNAI: Indian cricketer Saurav Ganguly will receive the sportsperson of the year 1997 award, for his batting exploits.
The award, instituted by the Sportstar, will be presented to him at a function here tomorrow. While, Athlete Milkha Singh will receive the legend of Indian Sport Award, upcoming hockey star Rajiv Mishra and world under-10 champion Koneru Humpy have been selected for Young Achievers Award.
