Sunny may be ICC ambassador
MUMBAI: International Cricket Council (ICC,) in its effort to globalise the game, is likely to appoint Sunil Gavaskar as its ambassador. A formal announcement is expected on March 7. The ICC also plans to nominate Imran Khan, Asif Iqbal, Ian Chappell, Tony Greig, Barry Richards, Mike Proctor, Ian Botham and Viv Richards as other ambassadors.

MUMBAI: Local girl Alisha Mashruwala went down fighting in five games to Caroline Vennet (France) in the girls’ under-13 event of the French Junior Squash Open at Strasbourg.
According to information received here on Monday, Alisha, who lost 3-9, 9-10, 10-8, 9-4, 5-9 had to be content with the third place.

AFC suspend Bagan
CALCUTTA: Mohun Bagan have been suspended for one year by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) from the Continental Club Cup tournament for failing to take part in their return leg match against Japanese Jubilo Iwata last year owing to non-arrangement of police protection in the stadium.
Bagan will be charged a fine of $³3000, according to a decision taken by disciplinary committee of AFC in a meeting at its headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, said AIFF secretary Kedar Nath Mour.
