MUMBAI: Mumbai took a firm grip over Saurashtra by claiming three wickets for 71 after making 347 in the first innings on the second day of the Vijay Merchant under-16 cricket match here at the Wankhede Stadium. Vinit Indulkar, who was the overnight not out batsman on 85 in his team8217;s total of 191 for four, could add just one run before he was bowled by Sanjay Hansalpara for 86. However, left-hander Abhishek Nair 76: 7215;4 Harshad Rawle 37: 6215;4 and Paul Valthaty 25 came up with useful contributions to swell the Mumbai score.

PUNE: The three-day match between Maharashtra and Baroda in the Under-16 Vijay Merchant West Zone cricket league ended in a draw. The match was called off after nine mandatory overs when Maharashtra were 266 for four in their second innings, with Shirish Kamathe remainingunbeaten at 118.

NEW DELHI: Sports Channel Star Sports has increased its fee and it will now be more costlier by Rs. 1.51 per subscriber effective January 1, 2000. The new price has been fixed at Rs. 6.50 per subscriber per month, up from existing price of Rs. 4.99, which is the floor price that will be charged to cable networks.

Formidables failed to withstand the onslaught of the opponent with the progress of the match and conceded without playing the last session when it trailed by huge margin of 100 IMP.
