
ATF Series called off
NEW DELHI: The ATF Super Series tournament for under-14 and under-16 boys and girls scheduled for December 1-4 at the DLTA courts has been cancelled.
Instead, the All India Tennis Association junior ranking tournament will be held at the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association from November 30 to December 3, a release said today. The qualifying rounds will be held from November 27 to 29.
Revathy upset
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: World champion G Revathy of Banks Sports Board lost to National champion R Sharmila of Tamil Nadu in the women8217;s third round of the seventh Federation Cup Carrom Championship. Sharmila defeated Revathy 24-5, 17-12 and moved into the pre-quarter.
In the Sub-Junior National and Inter-State tournament, being conducted along with the Federation Cup, Tamil Nadu retained the girls team championship defeating Maharashtra 3-0 last night.

BANGALORE: Fast bowler Javagal Srinath and tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi figure in the list of 67prominent personalities who have been selected for the Karnataka government-instituted Rajyothsava Award for their significant contributions in their respective fields.
Saurav wins
CALCUTTA: Local boy Sourav Ghosal displayed his class by winning both the under-13 and under-15 titles in the Indian Open Junior Squash tournament. Top seed Abhimanyu Jain also kept his reputation intact by clinching titles in the under-17 and under-19 categories, getting past his opponents after thrilling five-setter encounters.
Koshy sole leader
CALCUTTA: International Master V Koshy emerged the sole leader with four points after the fourth round of the Millenium Open International Rating Chess tournament. Koshy, who shared the lead with nine players after the third round yesterday, won against Bibhas Bhowmick to be the sole leader on a day which saw a few upsets.
