HC extends term of Ganesh factory board
Ahmednagar:
The Aurangabad bench of Bombay High Court has ordered extension of the board of directors of the Rahata-based Ganesh Cooperative Sugar Factory.

The order was issued in connection with a writ petition filed by Bhagwantrao Gorde, chairman of the sugar factory. The petitioner had sought directions to hold the elections before the expiry of the board8217;s term and for extension to the present body in case it was not possible to hold the election in time.

The sugar factory8217;s board of directors had urged the State Government to extend the board8217;s term. However the request was rejected by the government.

The order was issued by a division bench of the high court comprising Justices V K Barde and M B Mhase. The court said that it was not the fault of the board of the directors that the State Government could not hold the factory8217;s elections on account of the parliamentary and assembly elections. The court opined that it would not be proper to appoint an administrator after dissolving the board of directors. The court also felt that the cooperation minister had not used his powers in a proper manner in this case.

BJP observers to visit Nagar
Ahmednagar:
Bharatiya Janata Party BJP has appointed civil supplies minister Haribhau Bagade and State Transport Corporation Chairman Girish Bapat as observers to assess the views of party workers in relation to the parliamentary and state assembly elections. The observers will arrive here on July 31.

Balasaheb Vikhe who had won from Ahmednagar South Lok Sabha constituency last year has now opted to contest from his home constituency, Kopargaon, and so now Ahmednagar South seat will be contested by a BJP nominee. Former independent MLA Tukaram Gadakh, Dilip Gandhi and Ghanashyam Shelar are some of the aspirants for the seat.

Gadakh has joined the BJP only recently and therefore his selection as party candidate may create dissension among the old party workers.
