
I-G level inquiry into seizure of explosives
Mumbai: An inquiry would be conducted by an Inspector-General into seizure of explosives from Pune, Ahmednagar and Aurangabad region in March, Deputy Chief Minister Gopinath Munde informed the State Legislative Council here on Tuesday.
Earlier, the Minister of State for Home Prabhakar More had ruled out Vynkappa Patki8217;s JD demand for a CBI probe into the incidents.
Explosives were recovered from seven places in Aurangabad, Nevasa, Pune, Rahuri and Ahmednagar with threatening letters in the name of Chief Minister Narayan Rane, More informed the house. More said a total of six persons have been arrested in this connection.
CSA certificate for Kulkarni Power Tools
Kolhapur: Shirol-based Kulkarni Power Tools KPT, was recently presented with the prestigious certificate of Canadian Standards Association. KPT is the first power tools manufacturer in the country to have been presented a CSA certificate.
Announcing this at a press conference, Dileep Kulkarni, C M Arolkar and M D Patil, general managers of KPT said that the certificate of the Canadian Standards Association will enable the company an entry into European and North American markets. 8220;It is mandatory to have CSA certification for entry into Euro markets and other international markets,8221; they said.
Besides, the KPT is also first in India to have qualified for Shared Certification Programme. This programme authorizes KPT to carry out testing and prepare certification reports for CSA review, they informed.
Having a turn over of Rs 36 crore and a workforce of 150 employees, KPT produces 1,00,000 powertools per year. 8220;Our market share is nearly 30 percent out of total market of 3.5 lakh power tools. An expansion plan has already been undertaken, whereby the power tool manufacturing capacity of the plant will be raised to 2.5 lakh power tools within a year,8221; said the company executives. Ten percent of KPT power tools are exported to countries from middle east, south -east Africa, and in the subcontinent, they added.
