
ICAI seminar on bank audit
A seminar on bank audit was organised by Chandigarh Branch of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India ICAI under the chairmanship of D. K. Singla. Amarjit Chopra, member of the Central Council of ICAI highlighted the grey areas to be covered while carrying out bank audit.
INTUC condemns BJP8217;s intervention
At an emergency meeting of the Indian National Trade Union Council held here today under the chairmanship of council president Sat Pal Sharma, the members condemned unnecessary intervention of the BJP and its allies in the day-to-day functioning of the Administration. The executive body also criticised the BJP leaders for levelling accusations on UT officials.
Rickshaw pullers8217; strike on April 19
The rickshaw pullers decided to observe a complete strike on April 19 during a meeting of the All-India Rickshaw Workers8217; Union held here today under the presidentship of Sudama Ram. It was also decided that the rickshaw pullers would assemble at the Labour chowk and march in procession to the DC office in Sector 17. They are resorting to the protest because of the indifferent attitude of the Administration towards their demands.
Unique opens training institute
Unique Institute, a new centre to impart one year and two year diplomas in textile designing, fashion technology and computer education opened in Sector 34 today.
Run by Dharmendra Ojha, who has diversified from his computer stationery business to this one, the institute plans to conduct tours of industrial concerns for students.
There are plans to provide scholarships to students who complete their two-year diplomas, by subsidising the fee for the next courses.
Dharna by Child Welfare body
Members of The Indian Council for Child Welfare Employees8217; Union, held a dharna at the Bal Bhawan, in Sector 23, to press for their demands including implementation of the recommendations of the Fourth Pay Commission, a press release said.
Office-bearers take oath
The local unit of the Bharat Vikas Parishad celebrated it8217;s annual function at it8217;s Bhavan in Sector 12 in Panchkula today. The new executive body took oath of the office and was introduced to the people who attended the function. The General Secretary of the local branch, Jaipal Gupta read out the annual report. The Haryana State Industry Minister, Shashipal Mehta was the chief guest and the function was presided over by Dr. Devender, who donated Rs 50,000 to the Parishad.
