PANCHKULA, Oct 22: The Haryana Urban Development Authority HUDA has started developmental work in Sector 27 and 28. Most of the work was started some months back, the most important project being the bridge connecting these sectors Panchkula Extension with the other sectors of the township.

The 70 metre bridge over the Nandna Choe is being built by the Bamp;R at HUDA8217;s cost. The estimated cost to be incurred on the construction of the three-span bridge would be Rs 70 lakh. This will help in reducing the distance between these sectors and the rest of the township. The bridge will be completed within a few months time.

Meanwhile, the Housing Board Colony has been developed and HUDA has started the waterworks and the pump house. The water tank has also been completed and HUDA officials say these facilities have been made available to enable the housing societies to start construction.

Also, HUDA has started developing the dividing roads and main roads in the sector. The total cost to be incurred on the external roads would be Rs 1 crore approximately and the tubewells would cost HUDA a sum of Rs 30 lakh.

A combined water tank has been constructed for Sectors 27 and 28, that will serve as the underground clean water tank. Quarters for the operational staff have also been constructed and tenders for tubewells and machinery have been received. The sewerage system will be started later.

Also, HUDA has taken up some other developmental work in other sectors. The primary school and community centre in the Mansa Devi Complex has been completed and a community centre and a shopping centre in Sector 20 are under construction. HUDA has also taken up the development of nullahs into leisure valleys and an auto market is under construction in Sector 20. The market will be partially developed by HUDA, which will include 117 shops, to be auctioned later along with the area for the booths.
