Chandigarh, MAY 30: The city-based Himachal Mahasabha held its sixth annual function at the Tagore Theatre here today. Hari Narain Singh, Himachal Pradesh Minister of State for Town and Planning presided over the function and MP Satya Pal Jain was the guest of honour.

Highlighting the problems faced by members of the Sabha, M.P. Agnihotri, president of the Sabha, asked the minister to allot land for the construction of a residential colony for the Sabha members near Baddi. He also urged him to alter the rule preventing children having a Himachal domicile but who had not done their schooling from the state from being eligible for BDS and MBBS seats. They also asked him to get the road from Jayantiwala to Baddi, which would cut the distance to Baddi from the city by about eight km, constructed soon.

The minister, in his address, assured the people that he would look into these matters. The matter of constructing a quot;Himachal Bhawanquot; also figured on the agenda and Jain assured that he would help them in this regard. A cultural function was also organised on the occasion, where Himachali songs, dances, Punjabi songs and the Sanths dance were performed. A souvenir, quot;Him Uthanquot; was also released on the occasion.
