SHIMLA, June 24: Himachal Power Engineers Association has urged the government and the HP State Electricity Board to take steps to end stagnation in the cadre of electrical engineers of the board. It threatened to launch an agitation if their demands went unheeded.

In a statement here, the association accused the HPSEB of “irresponsible and evasive attitude” and said that though the HPSEB had given categorical assurances for re-designation of the engineering officers on the PSEB pattern, the assistant engineers recruited in 1981 were yet to become executive engineers.

Not only has the association warned Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal of the possible agitation, but even the management had been served a notice of the decision to take course of agitational methods. The members of the association have decided to march to the CM Secretariat to present a memorandum regarding their demands.
