
CHANDIGARH, May 15: The High Court Legal Services Committee will organise a Lok Adalat in the High Court on May 23.
To be inaugurated by the Supreme Court judge and executive chairman of the National Legal Services Authority, Justice A.S. Anand, the adalat would take up at least 800 motor accident claim cases for amicable settlement of appeals pending against the orders of Motor Accident Claims Tribunal.
At least 10 benches have been constituted, with each bench comprising a sitting judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, a judicial member and a social worker. A pre-Lok Adalat for negotiation would be held on May 16.
Traffic challan adalat today
Commuters challaned for traffic violations prior to March 31 this year can appear before the Lok Adalat in the Sector 17 District Court complex on Saturday for expeditious disposal of challans. According to a statement of the Chandigarh Traffic Police, the adalats will also be organised on May 23 and May 30 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The fine would be comparatively less, it was added.
