CHANDIGARH, April 23: The Punjab and Haryana High Court premises was a scene of hectic activity because of the annual elections to the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association slated for tomorrow. About 3,000 lawyers are expected to exercise their franchise to elect the new team of the Bar.

Among the main contenders for the post of president of the Bar are the present president, Ravinder Chopra, and former president G C Dhuriwala, besides Bhim Sen Sehgal, are pitted against one another in a three-cornered contest. D S Rajput, another lawyer who had earlier filed his papers, has withdrawn.

In three-cornered contest, Arihant Kumar Jain, K C Bhatia and S R S Malhi are contesting for the post of vice-president, while A K Sinha, Arun Kumar Jain and Sukhjinder Singh Behl are vying for the post of the Bar secretary. For the post of treasurer, R C Dimri and Tribhuvan Singla are contesting in a direct contest.

Navinderjit has, however, been already elected unanimously joint secretary of the Bar. For the executive committee of the Bar Association, a total of 14 lawyers are vying for the ten posts of the executive. Avtar Singh Khera, will be the Returning Officer.
