MUMBAI, March 3: The JK Tyre team of Hari Singh and navigator GS Mann were declared the 1997 National Rally champions at a function held in Bangalore today, for the fourth year in succession, which has been a record of sorts in the Asia Pacific region.

Hari Singh has been the undisputed national champion since 1994. At the world championship in Australia, he was declared the quickest driver in the Langely Park Stage. The winners of the rally were adjudged on the basis of eight rallies through some of the most rough terrains.

The rally starts in March in Nasik, then covers Coimbatore, Madras, Bangalore, Cochin, Delhi, Coorg and finally ends in December in Hyderabad. Manik Raikhy and CK Chinappa won the title in the unmodified category.
