Australian vice-captain Adam Gilchrist was found guilty at a disciplinary hearing today of showing dissent following an umpire8217;s decision in Australia8217;s second limited-overs international against Sri Lanka. Gilchrist8217;s teammate Andrew Symonds was cleared by International Cricket Council match referee Mike Proctor of a similar charge.

8220;I had some difficult decisions to make,8221; Proctor told a news conference after a one-hour hearing with the players today. Proctor said Gilchrist was fined 50 per cent of his match fee. The behaviour of symonds was 8220;more of disappointment than dissent,8221; Proctor said. The players were batting together in the 41st over of the Australian innings on Sunday when Sri Lankan umpire Peter Manuel adjudged Symonds out leg-before wicket. AP
