
MUMBAI, JUNE 6: The state government has announced appointment of 800 additional pada swayamsevaks volunteers for Thane district on Sunday.The decision was announced after senior government officials reviewed various health problems in the rural parts of the district. They called for a closer coordination between the three implementing agencies of health, integrated child development and tribal development for concerted work to provent malnutrition, outbreak of epidemics and child deaths in the rural and tribal areas.
The meet, attended by Tribal Development Minister Vishnu Savra, also decided to introduce the double meal scheme in the district for the children which will also increase the attendance in the balwadis and ashram schools. The officials at the meet were tribal development department secretary Dr Ramanand Tiwari, Commissioner of the Integrated Child Development Programme Dr Chand Goyal, Konkan Divisional Commissioner Sharbari Gokhale, Thane District Collector Mukesh Khullar, Thane ZillaParishad Chief Exeucitive Officer CEO Maneesha Verma.
The decentralisation of the preocurement of the necessary provisions for anganwadis/ ashram school from July one in order to avoid any complaints of leakge and regular medical check-ups to children of balwadis and ashram schools by group of doctors, are other mesaures to be implemented.
