The department has imposed a time frame of three months for both the processes. It has also proposed to impose a fine on the owner who fails to honour the time frame.

These decisions were taken at a meeting chaired by the land and land reforms department minister, Abdur Rezzaq Mollah.

8220;So far as the process of conversion of land is concerned, land up to 10 decimel will be done by Block Land and Land Reforms Officer BLLRO. From 10 decimel to one acre, the process will be carried out by Sub-divisional Land and Land Reforms Officer SDLLRO. And conversion of land above one acre will be done by District Land and Land Reforms Officer,8221; the minister said.

Mollah also said that if the officer concerned could not do this in the prescribed time frame he would have to mention the reason in the order sheet.

The same process will be followed in case of mutation of land.

The minister said the whole thing was done to both expedite and simplify the process. 8220;Earlier, people used to take 3 to 4 years for conversion and mutation. But now they will have to pay fine if they cross the time limit of three months,8221; the minister said.
