BILASPUR, May 25: A minor dispute over cowshed led to the death of a BA final year student of the local post graduate college on Friday night.

According to reports, Lal Singh, father of the deceased had a dispute over cowshed with Mangtu, both residents of Jajjar village. Moreover, Lal Singh’s daughter Radha (21) had alleged that Bikaram, the son of Mangtu teased her.

On the fateful day Mangtu and Bikram went to Lal Singh’s house. Lal Singh, working in Amritsar, was not there. They had a quarrel with Lal Singh’s wife Inder Devi. Radha came to her mother’s rescue when Bikram charged her with a lathi which killed Radha instantly. However, in the morning, the villagers spread the news that Radha died because of gastroenteritis and put her body on pyre at 9 a.m. Surprisingly, the mother of the deceased did not lodge any complaint with the police. However, on a tip-off, Superintendent of Police Anurag reached the spot when the body was still on pyre.

The presence of police scared away those assembled there. The police took away the 60 per cent burnt body for postmortem here in district hospital. When the mother of the deceased revealed the incident to the police, they booked the two under Section 302.
