But Ekta begs you not to focus entirely on her film. quot;My television company is going public soon, and the film will be produced under a new banner, so let8217;s not confuse issues here, quot; she orders almost dictatorially. quot;I8217;m concerned with everything from the conceptualisation to the actual execution of episodes, as far as my television shows go,quot; she says. Of the several serials she has produced including the mega-successful family comedy, Hum Paanch, Ekta says the one she enjoys watching the most, is Kanyadaan. quot;It8217;s something that appeals to my sensibilities, and interests people of my age, quot; she explains. Unlike most star children who nurse starry ambitions right from an early age, Ekta says she never did want to be a movie actor. quot;I could never see myself spending hours having make-up applied on my face, or sitting in hot, dusty studios. That life was certainly not for me,quot; she reveals.

For her own part, she says she8217;s happy with the work she8217;s doing. Having cut down on what used to be an active social life, Ekta says she spends most of her time reading scripts and watching taped episodes of shows about to go on air. quot; But I love my job, quot; she says.
