German molestation victim identifies two accused

In the identification parade conducted at Model Jail, Burail, which went on for around two hours, the victim had to identify Harpreet and Pankaj out of a group of nearly a dozen whose physical description matched theirs.

The victim, accompanied by her father and few officials of the German Embassy reached Chandigarh on Sunday and was taken to Model Jail, Burail at about 9.30 am.

The identification parade commenced at around 10 am and went on till 12 noon, in the presence of Sub-Divisional Magistrate South Prerna Puri.

UT Deputy Commissioner RK Rao had on Saturday appointed SDM South Prerna Puri to get the identification parade conducted in her presence.

Chandigarh Police had moved an application in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate on Saturday, seeking permission for the identification parade of the accused, after two of the five gave their consent to be put through it.
