MUMBAI, DEC 6: Leader of the Opposition in the State Legislative Council Nitin Gadkari today lashed out at the decision taken by the Democratic Front Government to launch various development schemes during the first 100 days of its tenure.Gadkari said that no development project can be completed in 100 days and the government will not not be able to give justice to backward regions like Marathwada and Vidarbha. He said that the Chief Minister has indirectly hinted that the government might last for 100 days by announcing such a scheme. He said that the programme of additional 50 jawahar wells and 100 rooms for schools in each district were also insignificant and added that as guardian minister of Nagpur district, he had sanctioned 7,000 jawahar wells in the last four and half years. He, however, lauded the scheme to provide electricity connections to 25,000 pumps and hike in the grant to Sanjay Gandhi scheme for the helpless.Referring to the proposed private members bill to be moved by BJP MP Kirit Somaiya in the Lok Sabha, Gadkari hoped that all parties except the Congress would support it. He said that the aim of the Bharatiya Janata Party is to strengthen the cause of democracy in the country and not expose any political party or individual and added that the subject matter of bill was important and it did not matter whether the bill was non-official or official.
