VADODARA, Nov 29: Five people of Kheda lost their lives after their boat capsized in the Mahisagar river on Saturday afternoon, the Savli police said.

Residents of Jasapura village of Thasra taluka, the victims, had come to visit their relatives in Kasariapura, Savli taluka. The boat capsized when they were returning to their village.

The dead have been identified as: Kaniben Chawda 38, Jayaben Chawda 25, Hansa Chawda 15, Rajuben Chawda 7 and Champa Chawda 15.

Senior PSI B S Nathani of Savli Police Station investigating the case told Express Newsline that boatman Devana Chawda, resident of Thasra taluka, had fished out four peoples8217; bodies. Search for Rajuben8217;s body is still on, Nathani said. The boatman was absconding, he added.
