Five held for brawl

PUNE, Nov 23: Three staffers of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation8217;s octroi department and two traders from Pimple Nilakh were arrested by the Chatuhshrungi police after they indulged in a brawl over paying duty at Kalewadi on Friday.

Among the arrested were PCMC employees Shankar Yallappa Nalavade 40 of Nehrunagar in Pimpri, Ravindra Vishnu Jadhav 38 of Pimple Saudagar, Babasaheb Abaji Kudale 43 of Savtamali Nagar in Pimpri and trader Dinesh Oswal 78 and his father Javerilal 78. Oswal and Kudale have lodged cross complaints. In his complaint, Dinesh Oswal alleged that he was shopping in Kalewadi area when Kudale and his accomplices approached and demanded Rs 1,000 as duty. The complaint claimed that later they agreed to accept Rs 200. Dinesh also accused the octroi department staffers of relieving him of all the money he had.
