
Cantor Fitzgerald, the brokerage firm that lost 658 employees in the September 11 attack, has sued Saudi Arabia for 7 billion in damages, charging that the kingdom 8216;8216;provided funding and material support and substantial assistance8217;8217; to Al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden.
The suit, filed in a federal district court in Manhattan, singles out four Saudi Arabian officials, saying they organised and controlled a network of financial institutions and charities that aided Al Qaeda for at least seven years before the attack.
The four officials named in the suit are Saudi Interior Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdel Aziz, Defence Minister; Prince Sultan bin Abdel Aziz, the Governor of Riyadh Prince Salman bin Abdel Aziz and former intelligence chief Prince Turki Al-Faisal. 8212;NYT
