In protest against the killing of Israt Jahan Shaikh, shops downed shutters in the street near her residence in Mumbra on Thursday. The Thane Crime Branch on Thursday said it was ‘yet to find any evidence of the girl’s links with the terrorist outfit’. ‘‘We have still not found any evidence that could lead to the girl’s links with any terrorist group,’’ ACP Amar Jadhav said in Thane. The Thane Crime Branch officials carried out a thorough search of Israt’s residence in Mumbra and a team also visited her college, Gurunanak Khalsa College in Matunga, Central Mumbai.

Meanwhile, college authorities have been quoted as saying that Israt was a regular student and had secured admissions to second year BSc this year opting for maths and statistics. She had secured a second class in her first year BSc exams, they said.
