SAS NAGAR, Oct 20: A Mathematics teacher of Yadavindra Public School, R. S. Maggo, claims that the method used by him in the factorisation of large numbers on the spot is very useful in finding the factors of the rep units RP, Mersenne, Fibonacci and Fermat numbers.

He claimed that the time taken by a super fast computer is very prohibitive and takes months but by his method, it will take only a few minutes to hours, depending upon the number. He also claimed that he had found a easy way to determine whether a given Fermat number is prime or not.

Meanwhile, the mathematics experts from Panjab University, Professor A.K. Aggarwal and Surinder Kaur Khanduja have refused to comment on the theory of Maggu.

quot;We cannot comment on the originality of the work until he discloses his theory behind it. If the technique is able to work on the computer, only then would it be successfulquot;.
