8226; Tavleen Singh8217;s column, 8216;8216;Burying national security in well of House8217;8217;, reflects the Opposition8217;s inept attitude towards the country8217;s problems. National issues are kept on the backburner as the NDA haggles over petty issues. Leader of the Opposition L K Advani has not raised a single cry in Parliament over the rising Islamic fundamentalism in Bangladesh, the increasing dominance of China in Asia or the surge of militancy in Kashmir. Only by being an effective Opposition, can the BJP and its allies remain true to the spirit of democracy.

8226; I agree with Tavleen Singh that India needs to react sharply on the conflict between the BSF and Bangladesh Rifles. Bangladesh seems to have forgotten that it was Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives for its independence. We need to express concern to the Bangladesh Government, while at the same time tightening the security along our border. Bangladesh should also be reminded that its citizens are living illegally in India and should be taken back. For all this, we need both powerful rulers and Opposition.

8226; With reference to Coomi Kapoor8217;s column, 8216;8216;Inside Track8217;8217;, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should make his own ideals the rule for all present and future political rulers by completely banning use of ministers8217; photographs in all government publicity material and publications.
