
PATIALA, Oct 29: The mortal remains of Amarjit Singh, chairman of the Road Safety Programme Implementation Committee and former chairman of the Punjab Public Service Commission who died in Delhi on October 27, were consigned to flames at the Rajpura road cremation grounds here today.
The pyre was lit by Amarjit Singh8217;s elder son Ajay Singh who had come from the United States.
Earlier, the funeral funeral procession was was joined by scores of people from all walks of life besides prominent political personalities cutting across party lines.
Deputy Commissioner Viswajit Khanna laid wreaths on the body of Amarjit Sigh on behalf of Chief Minister Parkash Sigh Badal. Other prominent personalities who laid wreaths on the occasion were Shriomani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee SGPC president Gurcharan Singh Tohra, state govrnment ministers Raja Narinder Singh, Harmel Singh Tohra and Surjit Singh Kohli former minister Brahm Mohindra, Subordinate Services Selection Board chairman Jasdev Singh Sandhu, Punjabi University Vice Chancellor Dr J S Puar, Delhi Tourism Corporation chairman Tarlochan Singh and Languages Department director M L Hasija.
