Enhance compensation: Jain

CHANDIGARH, Dec 17: Local MP Satya Pal Jain has called upon the Chandigarh Administration for increasing the compensation to farmers for land acquisition.In a meeting with the UT Administrator Lt Gen B.K.N. Chhibber retd and the Adviser Jagdish Sagar, the local MP has said that even though land prices had seen a spurt in the last few years, the land compensation to farmers has been far below expectations.Jain added that with the Administration proposing to acquire more land in various villages, the need for enhanced compensation to farmers was felt. Hepleaded foran early decision with regard to enhanced land compensation to farmers.

While discussing the problems faced by villagers, Jain also urged the Administration for resolving them, besides also considering to allot alternative sites to displaced farmers, whose land was acquired by the Administration.
