ST. JOHN8217;S ANTIGUA MARCH 21: England were in deep trouble on a spiteful pitch at lunch on the second day of the sixth and final Test against West Indies at Antigua Recreation Ground today. Rain had stopped play shortly after the morning session started. West Indian paceman Curtly Ambrose claimed the first wicket of the morning, that of nightwatchman Dean Headley.
Ambrose, playing on his home ground, induced Headley to edge the ball to West Indian captain Brian Lara in the slips 8212; the veteran speedster had taken the first three wickets. The opening day yesterday was disappointing for England captain Mike Atherton after he lost the toss. He drove at a loose ball and recalled spinner Dinanath Ramnarine picked up a brilliant low catch in the gully. Mark Butcher and Alec Stewart were the next two batsmen to the dismissed.
