MUMBAI, APRIL 28: Ritesh Shah 35 easily beat DS Rao 55 106-87, 135-65 in the second-round of the Sushil R Ruia Cup snooker tournament, sponsored by Selvel and Consultant, at the Matharpacady Club, Mazgaon, today.

Shah, the current junior India No. 3 and Pool Thakkar champion, had a break of 24 in the first frame and two breaks of 31 in the second.

Second-round: R Mehta 50 bt F Baig 55 122-57, 113-64; G Braganza 60 bt SS Ghadi 55 139-97, 119-94.

Karwades supreme

Pune8217;s Karwades, Esha and Rucha, won the titles in their respective groups in the Maharashtra State Selection Junior chess championships, organised by Kulkarni Group and Euwe Academy, yesterday.

The following will represent Maharashtra in the forthcoming Nationals to be held in Calcutta in May:

Boys under-14: Esha Karvade Pune and Amar Kamat Dombivli. Under-12: Yogesh Mhapari Aurangabad and Akash Kore Pune.

Girls under-14: Shradha Samani Kolhapur and Panagha Mangal Pune. Under-12: Rucha Karvade Pune and Krutika Nadig Pune.
