PANCHKULA, JULY 13: A head constable, Mahender Singh, posted at the Chandimandir police station was sent to police lines after he was found drunk on duty. The police caught him red handed when he did not receive the wireless message and on enquiry he was found in a drunken state. His medical examination was conducted at the General Hospital in Sector 6 here.

In a mishap near the railway crossing in Kalka, a girl, Laxmi, was injured when she was knocked down by a scooterist, Ravinder Pal Joshi, an employee of the Health Department.The police have booked the scooterist for rash and negligent driving and further investigations are on.

Jolly, a resident of Indira Colony, was admitted to the PGI, Chandigarh for burn injuries today. In yet another case, a wood material godown was completely destroyed in a fire that engulfed it early today morning. The incident took place at 5 a.m. today in Baltana village. Some workers were sleeping on the godown roof and one was sleeping outside the godown when the incident occured. A 15-years-old boy, Sunny, sleeping inside the godown was burnt alive. The charred body was recovered by the fire department from the salvage.The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Sexual harassment
The police have registered a case against a Manimajra resident, Ramesh, for allegedy sexually harassing a woman. The police acted after the woman lodged a complaint.

Assault alleged
Panchkula’s Rajiv Colony resident reported to the police that she was assaulted and threatened by a resident of the same colony, Sunul Kumar. She was injured and admitted to the Sector 32 Government Medical College and Hospital. The police have regsitered a case.
