
KHARAR, MAY 30: The government has chalked out a comprehensive plan to solve the drinking water problem and improve the condition of roads in the kandi area8217; of the state.
Addressing a public function after laying the foundation stone of a bridge to be constructed on Siswan river at Niholka village yesterday, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said the department concerned has been directed to complete the construction work within six months. The bridge will cost Rs 2.5 crore and its length will be 125 metres.
He said the government has decided to construct bridges on the rivers and nullahs8217; passing through the roads on priority basis in order to provide better transportation facilities in the state.
Former Roopnagar MP Satwinder Kaur Dhaliwal said the Badal government was the first government to have launched welfare schemes for the Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes. She said the Badal government had spent crores on the all-round development of Roopnagar district in view of the presence of historical city Anandpur Sahib in this district.
Morinda Akali MLA Ravi Inder Singh lauded the efforts of the government on clearing the construction of a bridge on Siswan river. He said the construction of this bridge would benefit about 50 villages of the area and the area would be connected with the Kurali grain market. Later, Badal visited the kutiya of Swami Shiv Swarup Atma Nadi Paar Kurali Wale.
